 Steve West, Host

Steve is a 30+ year radio veteran who has worked at stations in Alabama, Virginia and West Virginia, and since 1997, Birmingham, AL specifically. Over that time, he’s worked in oldies, rock, top 40, country, news and sports talk. He’s been interested in racing most of his life, dating back to his elementary school days when he played with a number 88 Matchbox car. With that, he became a Darrell Waltrip fan. Then, when Darrell retired,  Tony Stewart stepped in to fill the void. Steve began working for Talladega Superspeedway as a PA Announcer in 2007. In 2022, Barber Motorsports Park asked him to lend his talent to their PA booth for Indycar. He started the show then known as “The Fastest Hour in Radio” in 2011. He and his wife Karen currently live in Chelsea, Alabama.

Matt Nicholson, Resident Driver

Matt Nicholson‘s love for motorsports began at an early age. He attended his first race at Talladega in 1989 and hasn’t missed an event there since. With a dream of racing on his own, Matt began his own dirt team at the age of 22, with his dad Rick. Since sliding in behind the wheel, he’s garnered 28 race wins and a 2009 track championship at Shelby County Speedway. He has competed on several dirt tracks across the South and every dirt facility in the State of Alabama with the exception of one: North Alabama Speedway. In late 2016 he was a guest on “The Fastest Hour in Radio” and in January 2017 he became the co-host of the show to further share his love for motorsports, bringing a driver’s perspective to the show. 2017 also brought on the opportunity to work alongside show host Steve West in the PA booth at Talladega Superspeedway. Matt is a fan of Trackhouse Racing, and Andretti Autosport. He and his wife Starlit live in Oxford, Alabama with their two dogs, Dixie and Precious. They have one son, Blaine.

     John Myers, Producer

John began his radio career in 1988 at the heritage country station WSIG in his home town of Mt. Jackson, VA. He worked for many stations throughout the Shenandoah Valley, before moving to Birmingham, AL in 1998 where he had the fortune to work with the likes of Patti & Dollar Bill at WZZK, Cox Radio. Now, he tries to keep the guys at CRN running the line. John and his wife Marji live in Bear Creek, Alabama.
